Oceanographic Atlas

The Atlas contains data and analyses organized according to three appropriate "levels of complexity" for users with different levels of experience in handling marine databases

Level 1 : users having a large experience with ArcView and the use of shape grid files [ format known in GIS systems]

Level 2 : users with a limited experience with GIS systems, a robust visualization program [ ArcExproler] is provided herein, it can visualize and synthesize all data and products for this level

Level 3 : users who want to use images of analysis only, the image can be open under GIS provided software [ ArcExplorer] or under any graphic editor. Images can also be imported directly in document files [i.e. MS Word or WordPerfect]

The Atlas also contains original data from which the Atlas was built
The users can surf through the topic pages to find the databases that interest them
Load the desired files to your PC for analysis or visualization
The documents are provided for all the files, the users should consult the original source for additional information
Exercises are provided to show how to surf towards a typical database and copy it to your computer
The information related to the use of files after loading is provided
The IOC Resource Kit provides information on all the formats of data used in the Atlas. Surf to DATA ANALYSIS & PRODUCTS > FORMATS > INTEGRATED DATA FORMATS
