The President of the Republic’s Award for Scientific Research and Technology for the year 2002, received thanks to the results obtained by the laboratory of Living Marine Resources for the evaluation of fisheries resources. This project was carried out in collaboration with researchers from the INAT (National Agronomic Institute of Tunis), the Faculty of Sciences of Sfax, and the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis.
On this occasion all the researchers who benefited from this Award voluntarily offered all the proceeds of this Award to the workers of the INSTM and to the making of medals intended for immortalizing this event.

Decoration of two researchers with the Order of Merit for Education, for the year 2002 (4th level). Several certificates of merit granted for the scientific, cultural and professional demonstrations dealing with applications of marine science.

The first prize of the International Fair for Agricultural and Technological Investments. SIAT 2002 (Project: Development of a selective trawl for shrimp fishing).

The second price of the International Fair for Agricultural and Technological Investments. SIAT 2002 (Project: Valorization of marine macro-seaweeds in animal feeding), obtained in collaboration with the INRAT ( National Institute for Agronomic Research of Tunis).
