National Cooperation

INSTM cooperates with several partners:
 
Official Authorities of the ministry for the execution of the research projects and the studies which are entrusted to it by the Government.
 
The institutions and public companies which have a close link with the sea as well as with the field of protecting the environment [the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Hydraulic Resources represented by the Directorate-General of Fisheries and Aquaculture, the Inter-professional Grouping of Fisheries Products, the National Agency for the Protection of the Environment, the Agency for the Protection and development of the Littoral and the National Company for the Diffusion and Exploitation of Water], with whom it cooperates to conduct specific studies.
 
Professionals [in fisheries, aquaculture and valorization of sea products].
 
Higher Education and scientific research Institutions to carry out research programs and supervise students.
This cooperation at the national level allowed INSTM :
 
To manage more than 20 cooperation agreements
 
To organize more than 10 scientific and popularization seminars at the national level per year
 
To supervise more than 70 students in PhD and Masters programs and more than one hundred students in end-of-studies projects and internships.

International Cooperation

Conscious of the importance of and the need for undertaking research in coordination with foreign partners, INSTM maintains scientific collaboration relationships with several partners:

L’Instituto de Investigaçao das Pescas e do Mar [IPIMAR] and Instituto Nacional de saude [Portugal] : Projects on the Development of the clam fisheries and the Study of toxic micro-seaweeds.
 
University of Hull [United Kingdom] : Project on quality control and follow-up of seafood and sea products.
 
The JICA - Japan [Japanese Agency of International Co-operation] : Training in the field of the management of naval research units and the AJIOST Project [Afro - Japanese Institute for Ocean Sciences and Technologies]
 
University of Rimouski [Quebec - Canada] : Project FORENCO [Training on coastal and marine environment].
 
Several other agreement frameworks are set between INSTM and foreign universities for expertise and data exchange.
This international co-operation allowed INSTM:
 
To send 70 Tunisian researchers on missions abroad [year 2003]
 
To host 75 foreign researchers [year 2003]
 
To organize 10 scientific events on an international scale [workshops, seminars, training courses…]
